Sinopsis
VIRTALITY is a multi-channel video and sound installation with interactive components exploring the connection people have to virtual reality. Using the online virtual world of Second Life, VIRTALITY proposes to engage the public in a conversation about our relationship to communication. From the telephone to the Internet, our connection with media has become second nature, and face-to-face interactions have become just an extension of other technology mediated relationships. Second Life and virtual worlds offer the opportunity to explore a new form of communication that will acquire increasing significance in the near future. This interactive installation uses machinima (machine cinema filmed inside Second Life) projected in several screens to simulate the user experience of logging in, navigating, chatting, friending, and crashing in Second Life. The machinima also recreates a user relationship to others, to the self, and the virtual space. It is the purpose of VIRTALITY to create an experience where the physical and virtual space come together as one, and allow the user to directly affect the artwork itself.

Oberon Onmura

Oberon is a frequent contributor to ( and subject of podcast discussions) the Brooklyn is Watching site (http://brooklyniswatching.com/) on the Push sim.
His "Beacon," a 100-meter tower that constructs and then destroys itself, was selected for inclusion in a national exhibition of virtual and corporeal art - the "@ Exhibition" (www.arsvirtua.com) - in association with the Southern California Institute of Architecture and the College Art Association conference in Los Angeles, California (February, 2009).
Oberon's recent sim-sized projects, "The Tunguska Event" and "Storm Cells," were seen at the Project Z Gallery on the Cetus sim. He recently collaborated with Juria Yoshikawa and Dancoyote Antonelli for a SL/RL event with a jazz club in London, curated by Arahan Claveau.
